Walking level: low to moderate depending on what you’d like to do.

Time to walk: it can be 30 mins or 3 hrs - it’s up to you! Or you could spend the day here, paddling, having a picnic, flying a kite.

Busyness: Low in winter, high in summer

Parking: Plenty of parking on site, on entry to the park there is a fee per car of a few pounds for all day access and parking Facilities: toilets , picnicing areas and a cafe

On or off lead walk : On and off lead - note there are dog restrictions on certain part of the beach: dogs are not allowed on part of the beach from 1 May to 30 September. There is a map within the beach car park that shows the restrictions, or please see this visual.

A dog friendly beach in Anglesey


This stunning beach is a great place to spend a day with your pup, and family. Its two miles of golden sand is perfect for running and playing ball, taking a leisurely stroll along the shore. The beach is home to a large expanse of sand dunes with woodlands nearby, which provide a great spot to explore and enjoy the fresh, sea air.


If you’re looking for something a little more exciting Llanddwyn Island, which you can easily walk to from the beach is the perfect place to explore. This small island is connected to the mainland by a causeway, and is home to a range of interesting sights - including the remains of a sixteenth century church, as well as a lighthouse and the iconic Llanddwyn Island Sea Stack.


The best thing about Newborough Beach and Llanddwyn Island is there’s plenty of space and dogs are allowed on parts of the beach all year round, making it a great place to take the pup for a walk no matter the season. Whats even better is this is also a great day out for the family. It’s common for families to spend the day here, exploring, paddling, having a picnic and even flying kites.

Getting to Newborough Beach and Llanddwyn Island couldn’t be easier. The beach is situated just a few minutes drive from the town of Newborough and is signposted from the A4080. There is also a car park on site, as well as toilets, and a cafe. Please note there is a charge access into the area, which pays for all day parking.
