A dog friendly walk on the edge of Llandudno?
Angel bay is a great dog friendly spot and one that you’re both sure to love. It’s important to note, depending on which parts you walk, there are may be sheep. However you shouldn’t see any on the main trail that takes you to see the wild seals.
Walking level: Low, although there are steps. Disabled access is also available via a different route.
Time to walk: About 15 mins each way (or you can extend the walk if you want to)
Busyness: Low – medium depending on the season
Parking: Nearby roads (We’ve never struggled for a spot)
Facilities: None
On or off lead walk – Off lead, however, make sure your dog does not go to the bottom of the beach to not disturb the natural wildlife, it's also important to be mindful that there may be sheep if you walk higher up. There are also some cliff edges to be wary of.
Address: Penrhyn Bay, Llandudno LL30 3RW, Wales
Key Highlight: Beautiful views and wild seals on the beach.
Is the Little Orme a dog friendly walk?
Nestled between Llandudno and Penrhyn Bay, this is one of North Wales' best-kept secrets.
If you’re looking to see some wildlife while you’re in North Wales, then this is the place for you! Not only is this walk a great trot for dogs, but, when you reach the end and look down at the beach, you’ll often find wild grey seals sleeping, basking, playing or swimming around. If you want to increase your chances of seeing them it’s better to go early morning.
As it’s a nature reserve it is very important you do not go down onto the beach to not disturb the seals, however, there isn’t anything stopping you and your pooch from sitting at the top together, admiring the seals, taking in the calming views and breathing in the fresh sea air.
Due to the type of walk, there are signs for dogs to be kept on a lead. Although there is plenty of space you may also want to avoid throwing a ball just in case it goes over the edge.
Fancy a longer dog friendly walk?
If you fancy a bit more of a walk, then you don’t need to stop at the seals. There is the options to go higher up via a steep grassy path (which should tire you and your fur baby out) and some other areas for you to walk around. But note, although dogs are often off lead it is important to mention that, on occasion, there may be sheep present and again, there are cliff ages.
Amenities
There aren’t any amenities here, but it is a lovely spot for you and your dog to take a picnic and blanket. It’s never too busy so you won’t be fighting for space.
If you really need to buy something there is a co-op about a 10 -15 minute walk away (you’ll no doubt see it as you drive to Angel Bay) or a 2-minute drive.
Top tip
It’s a great walk and view in all seasons, just make sure to wrap up warm on blustery days!
